This site belongs to me, James Dempsey, and I run it myself. I want the way it handles your information to be as plain as the writing on it, so this page sets out what is collected, why, and what you can do about it.
If you only read the site. Reading here asks nothing of you. The site runs no visitor analytics, advertising cookies or tracking scripts. Google’s search tools tell me which searches lead people here, but not who you are.
If you subscribe. I keep the email address you give me, and your name if you add it, so that I can send you new writing when it’s published. That is the only thing I use it for. I don’t sell, rent or share the list, and I don’t send advertising or promotions. When you subscribe, I can see how you arrived at the site, such as through a link on LinkedIn, which helps me understand where readers find the work. Newsletter emails record whether they were opened and which links were clicked, which helps me see what is useful to readers. If you sign in to manage your subscription, Ghost places a small cookie in your browser to keep you signed in, and nothing else. Links I include to other sites carry a small marker showing they came from here.
Who handles the information. The site and the subscriber list are hosted by Ghost (Ghost Foundation), and emails are delivered through its sending service. They process the information on my behalf and under their own privacy commitments. I don’t use advertising networks or third-party trackers.
Your choices. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also manage or delete your subscription from your account on this site. If you want a copy of what I hold about you, or want it removed entirely, write to me at jamesdempseyaifd@gmail.com and I will take care of it.
Changes. If anything here changes, I will update this page and the date at the top.
